DAY 2
Day 2 - July 2, 1863, The union and confederate army went through most of their sunlight getting ready for any moment to take action: Meade's army carving along the Cemetery Ridge, which had a length of two miles from Cemetery Hill to the Round tops, and Lee's army positioned for an attack. Around four in the afternoon, Longstreet's corps-Hood's, Mclaws and R.H. Anderson's division removed from Hill's corps, attacked Sickles's third Corps at the Peach Orchard, pressing the survivors through the Wheat Field and Devil's Den.
during the progress of Longstreet's attack, Richard Ewell's corps sprung an attempt to route the Union army defending Cemetery Hill, however when his men found the hill to be steep it became difficult to climb, the unions force was too powerful, and when they have finally reached the cemetery gate, they were demanded to stop.
At the peak of the battle of Longstreet against Maede, Barksdale's Mississippi Brigade stormed into a widening breach in the Union line, at a cleft in the ridge, and when they were close to reaching the Union Rear, McGilvery's artillery annihilated the brigade with canister blasts. Then when Meade's Pennsylvania Reserve came, they attacked Longtreet's men back to Emmitsburg Road.
